My Research Story
Jessie Lynn is a Junior enrolled in the GT Independent Research Program at River Hill High School who is working with Ms. Kristen Carbone, the CEO and founder of Brilliantly which is a company that helps breast cancer patients through wearable technology after mastectomy. Lynn is researching how wearable technology could be used for breast cancer patients focusing specifically on how wearable technology could be implemented into their daily routines in order to live with more ease. During the research process, Lynn has discovered that many breast cancer patients still continue their daily lives even after being diagnosed with breast cancer in order to keep up with bills or providing for the family but would rather not get a mastectomy. In order to help this problem, Lynn has worked toward finding a solution through means of wearable technology so that the patients can continue to live their daily lives and still take care of themselves outside of the hospital. This website is a presentation of her thesis, research process, and any additional discoveries that she made along the way. She has been able to create a design for a device and has determined what the features of the device could do to help increase the survival rate of breast cancer patients.
